On this page
This page has messages for those people, short lines for your WhatsApp status, the lines a sibling can add to the invitation itself, and a checklist for the job most siblings end up doing anyway: running the invitation for the parents.
What to put in your message
- Whose wedding it is, with both names: 'my sister [Name] is marrying [Name]'.
- The dates and the city, early. A WhatsApp notification shows only the first line or two, so put the date there.
- Which functions they are invited to. Friends are usually asked to the sangeet and the wedding, colleagues to the reception. Say which, so nobody turns up at the haldi uninvited or misses the one they were meant for.
- The link, so the venue, the map and the timings are one tap away.
- One personal line. The sentence that makes it yours and not a forward.
Hinglish is fine for friends. English or Hindi, whichever they speak to you in, is right for relatives. The messages below come in all three, for a sister's wedding and for a brother's.
Inviting your colleagues
Colleagues usually come to the reception, sometimes to the wedding, rarely to the rest. Keep the message short and formal enough for the team group, and send it from your own number.
- Tell your manager in person first. Then the team message, so it does not arrive as news.
- One message in the team group, with the reception details. If your family has a reception-only link, send that one: anyone who has the main link can see every function on it.
- Mention the day of the week. If the reception is on a working day, people need to plan their evening, and leave if they are travelling.
- Send separate messages to the few you are close to, inviting them to more than the reception if you mean to.
The reception guide has wording for the reception card itself, and inviting guests to only some functions explains how families keep the reception guests and the family functions apart.
WhatsApp status and Instagram lines
A status is an announcement, not an invitation. Use it for the excitement, not the details: a line, the date, maybe a countdown. Your real invitations still go to people one by one, because a status reaches everyone who has your number, including people who are not invited.
If you want the invitation's own art for it, the three images for Instagram and WhatsApp (₹478) are made from your invitation's artwork: one sized for an Instagram story, one square for a WhatsApp display picture and one for a WhatsApp status. They are image files, not another link, and they reach you within 2 days of the final invite.
Running the invitation for your parents
In many families a sibling ends up as the invitation's project manager. On our calls in October 2026, a couple's sister-in-law joined the planning call, a bride's brother was handling the replies while she kept the login, and a bride and her brother coordinated her card together after their father passed away.
- Collect the names, spelled rightBoth families' names as they want them printed, with Shri, Smt., Late, and the order of the elders. Get it in writing from your parents, not from memory.
- Collect every functionThe date, time, venue, map pin and dress colour for each one, and which guests are invited to which.
- Read the drafts aloud to your parentsThe name order and the honorifics matter more to them than the design. A wrong 'Late' or a missing grandparent is what elders notice.
- Decide who handles the repliesReplies to an Invifest invitation go to a private RSVP console, free with the invite. Decide who logs in and tells the caterer the numbers.
- Give your parents a message they can forwardA short line with the link, copied into their WhatsApp, so they never have to type it themselves.
- Send the remindersA week before and the day before, with that day's times and the map.
If more than one person in the family is sending, Aangan (₹3,000) puts the guest list in one place. Every guest gets a personal link from your own WhatsApp, you can see who has opened it and who is coming, and the whole family can use it from their own phones. Sending on WhatsApp covers sending from your parents' numbers without getting them blocked.
Your own lines on the invitation
Hindi cards have long kept a corner for the children of the family. It is called the baal manuhar (बाल मनुहार): a few lines in a child's voice for a chacha's, mama's or bua's wedding, the kind that say 'mere chachu ki shaadi mein zaroor aana'. On a digital invitation it can sit on its own card, signed with the children's names, and it is a lovely job to give the nieces and nephews.
Grown-up siblings can have a note too: a few lines from the bride's or groom's brothers and sisters, signed with their names. One family added a siblings' note to their invitation in October 2026.
Giving the invitation as your gift
Some siblings pay for the invitation as their gift to the couple or to the parents. It is a useful present: it saves the parents a print order, and you get to choose something you know your sister or brother will like. Invifest invitations start at ₹2,499, paid once, with two rounds of changes, and the link stays the family's for life.
The sample invitations show what arrives, and every design page has a live demo.

Questions people ask
What should I write to invite friends to my sister's wedding?
Who is getting married, the dates and the city in the first line, which functions your friends are invited to, the link with the timings and the map, and one personal line. Send it to each friend or group from your own number.
How do I invite colleagues to my brother's wedding?
Tell your manager in person first, then send one short, formal message to the team with the reception's day, time and venue. If your family has a reception-only link, send that one rather than the full invitation.
Can I put my own message on my sibling's wedding card?
Yes. A siblings' note from the brothers and sisters, or a baal manuhar from the children of the family, is common on Indian cards and works well on a digital invitation as a card of its own.
What should I post as a status for my sister's wedding?
A short line with the names and the date. A status reaches everyone who has your number, so keep the details and the link for the people you are actually inviting.
Can I manage the RSVPs for my parents?
Yes. Replies to an Invifest invitation go to a private RSVP console that one of you can log in to, and Aangan lets the whole family use the guest list from their own phones.
What is baal manuhar on a wedding card?
A few lines on a Hindi wedding card written in the voice of the family's children, inviting guests to their chacha's, mama's or bua's wedding, signed with the children's names.
